Following the same lines as Seinfeld’s productivity tips and the rituals post, I found two programs this week that I think are really helpful for establishing positive rituals.
Both programs provide the same basic functionality – a calendar which you can use to “check off” days. The idea is that this act will help you stay focused on establishing your rituals.
The first program is Joe’s Goals. This is a great little program. You can list the habits you want to establish and then the program shows you how you have done over the last 7 days. Very simple and effective. He even provides a handy little widget you can post on your website so everyone can see how you're progressing with your goals. (Smart marketing – I'm going to have to remember that one. :-)
The other program is the aptly named Don’t Break the Chain. It doesn’t get any easier then this! The application is just a calendar. You click on a day – it turns red. You don’t even need to list your goals.
Personally, I prefer Don’t Break the Chain. I don’t have any problem remembering my goals. After all, I am working towards them every day. …so the idea of listing my goals before I can track them seems a bit redundant. Also, Joe’s Goals is a very busy page – lots of ads and clutter. I prefer the simple, clean interface used by Don’t Break the Chain. That said, Joes Goals is much more feature rich.
Try them both out – see which one works for you. They are both 100% free. No harm in trying. :-)
