Improve your Productivity with AutoHotKey

I've just been looking up new tips and tricks to help you boost your productivity and I've come across an article that has just been updated in the No Thick Manuals Wiki which explains how you can use AutoHotKey on any Windows computer from Windows '95 and later to improve your productivity and automate tasks.

The exciting thing about this is that it is very easy to learn, you can use it on any computer and all it really needs is a text editor and the AutoHotKey software which is available free from Autohotkey.com and to learn to write a basic script which you can learn from the Wiki article I mentioned above.

Using Autohotkey allows you to automate a number of different tasks on your computer and so boosts your productivity by reducing the actual steps you need to take in order to perform certain actions on your computer. One of the examples given on the No Thick Manuals wiki for example allows you to copy a word you have selected and it automatically opens Wordnet and copies this word into the page.

Although this is a simpler example, once you are comfortable with AutoHotKey you can also expand your use of it as far as you like and can even use it to create simple executable files to share with others. Basically what you are learning to do is to set a shortcut that automatically runs a script that you create and so automates your tasks. These scripts can be as short and simple, or as long and complicated as you feel comfortable with.

If you want to automate more of your computer work in order to improve your productivity then I highly recommend learning more about and downloading the AutoHotKey's software. It is easy to learn, works on (almost) any computer and greatly improves your productivity. Once you have learnt the basics you will also be able to expand your use of it and even share your executable scripts with others.
