Do you want to know Jerry Seinfeld's secret to productivity? The Lifehacker blog recently posted an article where Brad Isaac shared the productivity advice he had received from Jerry Seinfeld. Although I haven't tried it, I believe can be a fun way of ensuring that you get those daily tasks done.
Seinfeld believed that the secret to being a great comedian was to create better jokes by writing every day. Each day that he wrote he would place a big red mark on his wall calendar where he could see the year at a glance. Over time, he would build a chain of completed tasks. The key then - was to not break the chain.
This secret to productivity works effectively wherever you have things you need to do every day. You may need to exercise daily, write daily or program daily. The secret is to not break the chain, as Seinfeld re-iterated to Brad Isaac, "don't break the chain".
The big red marks on your wall calendar are a useful way of reminding you to complete that action and act as motivation to be able to mark that day's activity as done.
If you have something that you need to do every day why not start working on your chain? You may find that it helps keep you focused, motivated and working towards the goal that you are trying to accomplish.
